Throughout the years, Throes + The Shine have trekked all over the world. And with them, they always bring a will to celebrate music and freedom, while embracing the kuduro culture that was born in Angola. “Aqui, Ali”, the last track on “Kalunga”, the band’s sixth album, is a pure distillation of that sound, while coming through the trio’s original lens. Strong, vibrant and impossible not to dance to, “Aqui, Ali” is the perfect showcase for the band to unearth the many archival recordings of their concerts from the last couple of years. “Aqui, Ali” stands for “Here, There” and that’s exactly the point that Mob, Marco & Igor want to convey. It doesn’t matter if it’s here or if it’s there. It doesn’t matter where in the world they are. They just want to share and celebrate what they love to do and they want to do it together with everyone.
