From our upcoming third full-length album, "VIOLENT FEATHERS", out on May 23rd 2025.
"Baptism By Fire" is the first single off of Spiralist's third full-length studio album, "Violent Feathers". The song tells the story of a traumatic relationship with a sociopath who uses gaslighting, ghosting and the unverifiable promise of a terminal disease to manipulate the narrator, who begins failing to discern between truth and lie, and whose own savior complex drives him to the brink of a mental collapse.
Sound: Alternative Rock meets Metalcore meets Noise meets Industrial meets Pop. With David Lynch on supervision duties.
Written and performed by Bruno Costa

LYRICS:
Strike a match and I'm purified
Did I cross the line?
I can't make sense of the math
And I let you be sanctified
Could the blame be mine
That I fell for a sociopath?
Love bombs dropping on virgin soil
And I get caught up in the rush
You pour all over me like kerosene
And I ignite ablaze to your loathsome touch
Use me as a vessel, whispering devil,
"You're the only good thing I have left"
Your troubles tap into my savior complex
And leave my every need and sense of self bereft
Strike a match and I'm purified
Did I cross the line?
I can't make sense of the math
And I let you be sanctified
Could the blame be mine
That I fell for a sociopath?
Little supply and growing demand
Cold turkey withdrawl from a ghost
I walk on eggshells with every text
But the missing explanation is what hurts the most
Then you blurt out the answer, hit me with cancer
And I shake like a wilting leaf
Twenty years on Earth, how am I to cope?
You choose to walk away and I succumb to grief
I search in every corner, every window, every street
I pine for just a glimpse but empty stares are all I see
Strike a match and I'm purified
Did I cross the line?
I can't make sense of the math
And I let you be sanctified
Could the blame be mine
That I fell for a sociopath?
Let me have your cancer
I want fucking answers
Let me have your cancer
I want fucking answers
Now!
Strike a match and I'm purified
Did I cross the line?
I can't make sense of the math
And I let you be sanctified
Could the blame be mine
That I fell for a sociopath?
Now I stonewall you all to death
I've only learned it from the best
